Brief Church History

The Power of Faith Ministries International Incorporated Brooklyn Assembly, located in Brooklyn New York, began in the fall of 1994. Our dearly departed, Missionary Doris Bailey, had a passion for Christ and the things of God. Missionary Bailey offered her home, located at 1245 East 53rd Street, Brooklyn, New York, as the starting ground for the Brooklyn Assembly. The Brooklyn Assembly was officially established by Bishop Dr. Delford Davis and his wife Reverend Petrova Davis, in the Spring of 1995 Missionary Doris Bailey’s home, soon became too small to accommodate the thirty (30) members and visitors who attended meetings at her home. With God’s grace, the relentless efforts of Bishop Davis and the members, a place of worship was secured at 4303 Church Avenue, Brooklyn, New York.

The first meeting at 4303 Church Avenue was held on June 4th,1995, with an attendance of over one hundred (100) members and visitors. While at 4303 Church Ave, the membership of the Brooklyn Assembly grew rapidly. With such continuous growth, on one of our Bishop’s visits, he explained that if we did not find space for a larger accommodation, our growth would be stagnant. While at 4303 Church Ave., the Brooklyn Assembly was under the leadership of host pastors, Pastor Peter Grubb, Pastor Brown, and other anointed men and women of God.

On February 28, 1998, the Brooklyn Assembly moved north to a more spacious location at 5105 Church Avenue, Brooklyn, New York. In the fall of 1998, Pastor Claude Hibbert and his wife, Reverend Sonia Hibbert, were handed the baton to lead this growing congregation. During the tenure of Pastor Claude Hibbert and Reverend Sonia Hibbert, the Brooklyn Assembly grew, and by the grace of God, a larger location was acquired; 3619- 23 Church Avenue, Brooklyn, New York.

In November 2004, Pastor Delroy Chambers and his wife Minister Yvonne Chambers were assigned to lead the Brooklyn Assembly. The both served the Brooklyn Assembly for three years. During their tenure, the Brooklyn Assembly grew. In July 2007, Pastor Chambers and Minister Chambers were assigned to lead the Miramar Assembly and Pastor Roger Weller and his wife were transitioned to the Brooklyn Assembly in August 2007.

Pastor Weller and his wife, led the Brookly Assembly for four years and ultimately departed the Brooklyn Assembly in the summer of 2011. After the departure of Pastor Roger Weller, our current assistant Pastor, Minister Sharon Craig-Lawrence led the charge until November 2013.

In December 2013, Bishop Dr. Delford Davis assigned Bishop Orville Smith as the lead pastor of the Brooklyn Assembly. At the end of his tenure, Minister Lawrence once again led the charge and the Brooklyn Assembly steadily grew.

On May 28, 2017, Reverend Kevin Laylor was assigned to oversee the Brooklyn Assembly. Since his tenure, Reverend Laylor, by the grace of God, lead the Brooklyn Assembly through the COVID 19 pandemic and the ministry has steadily grown since then. The Brooklyn Assembly will be celebrating 30 years of official establishment in 2025. We have come this far by Faith!
